Description

ASUS ROG Ally handheld gaming console

ASUS, which sells gaming hardware under the ROG name, is getting ready to introduce the handheld gaming console known as the AGROG Ally in an effort to compete with Steam Valve.

On April 1st, the company teased this new device, leading many to think it was an April Fools' joke. However, the company has now confirmed that this new product is indeed being developed.

The ROG Ally will be running Windows 11 and be powered by a unique AMD Ryzen chipset, according to the information the company has provided. Users may also be able to connect an external GPU to play resource-intensive games.

According to YouTube Dave 2D, the device will have a 7-inch touchscreen display with Full HD 1080p screen resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, and 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, it is asserted that the ROG Ally weighs 608 grams and is 280mm x 113mm by 39mm, making it narrower, thinner, and slightly lighter than the Steam Valve.

Another hands-on video from Linus Tech Tips demonstrates some software upgrades the business has made for the prototype unit. For instance, the device may have a fingerprint reader that can be used to switch between accounts.

The ASUS ROG Ally handheld gaming console's launch date and pricing details have not yet been made public by AS US. The device does, however, have a micro-landing page on Best Buy where interested users can sign up to receive notifications when it is available for pre-order. We anticipate the device being released in the upcoming months, but we must wait for official confirmation.
